Ronald B. Lessard was one of the youngest graduates to be inducted into the Royal Oak High School Hall of Fame. He graduated in 1978 and was inducted in 2001. Ron tried football, basketball, wrestling, track and cross country during his first two years of high school. It soon became evident that his skills lay in distance running. He set school records and earned all-state recognition in both cross country and track. He was awarded the Miles Marks Award his senior year for combining academic excellence with his athletic achievements.

Ronald Lessard continued his winning ways at Albion College where he set college records in several different endurance running events. He is currently a member of the Albion College Athletic Hall of Fame. Ron still enjoys distance running, and by his own estimates, had run over 52,000 miles by the time of his induction in 2001. This distance is equivalent to two and one-half times around the earth at the equator.

Dr. Lessard's academic field is chemistry. He received his Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry from Wayne State University and completed post doctorate work at Michigan State University. He is employed by the international corporation, ONDEO NALCO Energy Services while living in Sugar Land, Texas. He is engaged in energy chemical research and serves as the Research Manager for a $70 million business unit. He has authored or co-authored articles in 16 scientific publications and hold four U. S. patents relating to new chemicals and the use of electronic equipment. In 2000 his company received four national awards for its research and development, and Dr. Lessard was given the Suez Innovation Trophy for his contributions.
