Tom Carr is a 1976 graduate of Dondero High School. While at Dondero Tom was a varsity letter winner in football, basketball and baseball. He was the League MVP in football his senior year.

Tom Carr attended Albion College where he earned four letters in football and co-captained the 1979 team. He graduated from Albion in 1980 and attended Colgate Rochester Divinity School where he graduated with honors in 1985 with a Master of Divinity degree.

Rev. Carr became an ordained minister in the American Baptist Churches in 1985 and served churches in Ohio and Rochester, New York. In Rochester he was on the staff of the Divinity school recruiting students and administered a project to study healthy congregations. He has been the Senior Minister of the First Baptist Church in Hartford, Connecticut in 1992. For many years Tom has been deeply involved in issues of environmental justice and the care of God's creation. He is one of the co-founders of the state wide, Interfaith Inter-religious Eco-Justice Network.

Tom Carr has extensive work with youth, but his primary interests are in preaching, worship leadership, teaching and the spiritual growth of his congregation. In 2005 he authored the book, Reflections for Prayer. In 2006 Thomas G. Carr was inducted into the Royal Oak High School Hall of Fame.
